Printhead itself may be stiffed. In that case ı manually flush printhead and printhead adaptor until it soften. But it is a risky process.

Another interesting possibility. In a forum about Epson printers for photographers, I read that Epson suggested doing 9 print head cleaning in a row, for a similar vertical banding that other user reported to the Epson Support. Then, this makes sense for me.

a bad head alignment can do this, did you know exactly what you were doing, or when aligning the marks did you guess? Print an exact size box ( like 4”x4”) then measure it with a caliper, is the image any amount longer than 4” exactly, in the feed direction?

did this machine suffer from a head strike, which you believe it has recovered fully from?

Yes, the alignment took a lot of time, since I checked with detail the best alignment option in each prompt from the printer. The thing about print a box and measure with the digital caliper, I can try it for sure. And not, this print head is new, no head strikes until now. Thanks for the advice.

Hi brothers, I have successfully bypass PE, ASF and PW sensors for epson L18050.

Epson L18050 with XP600 head, more faster than the Epson L1800.

With bypass sensors, you can have more scope and freedom to build assemblies for DTF or UV printers.

For diagram, wiring  and arduino code, you can contact me.

Great work. Could be nice if you describe wich type of errors we can avoid bypassing all the sensors.

Your ink assembly may need a flush and maybe some dampers need replacement.

Interesting, i guess dampers can't be, since i just replaced all the dampers. But... ink assembly... could be, but can you explain to me the logic behind this please ?? Thanks a lot for the advice.

  5. I have many Epson P800 printers, but in one of them, the last days I'm getting a vertical banding in my prints when I print at 720x1440. Usually I print at this resolution because it is better for my workflow. This vertical banding disappears when I print at 1440x1440. Do you have any idea why this could be happening ?? The only adjustment that I did for that printer was the print head height adjustment. I already cleaned and replaced the encoder and aligned the print head.

Wonder why it’s so much. My bad.

it is a good machine, I have 5 of them and have never encountered the issue. I’ve ran it out of film and it kept printing- so nothing was in there at one point so I am not sure.

Just disable all the skew/paper detection and use rolls. Maybe add a tiny white sticker under the film where the edge of the film is.

Thanks a lot for the advice, now the printer is working fine.

For 1900 Euros you can get a machine that is twice as fast and works 10X better. The Epson 5000.

Sure, P5000 is a great machine, but here is much more expensive than 1900. You can buy it here for 2500 euros. Anyway i think both are great options. By the way, i have a friend using P5000 but don't detect the dtf film. Any suggestion about this issue ??

It’s a beta, I don’t see any Chipless firmware for it and the cartridges are small. I haven’t. The P5000 is well worth the upgrade over it, being over twice as fast and a ton more reliable- basically made for DTF.

European version can use auto  reset cartridges, just like the 3880. For me a machine like this (if works and last as a p800) 1500 euros is very good price, because the machine still in production and is brand new.

I purchased 10.5 so I’ll see where that goes when it gets here.

I keep attentive to your results. I think p5000 is a solid option, also p6000 since the difference between both in the local market are more or less 1000 usd. But you will get 60cm wide prints. I don't know how the p6000 compare in speed with the p5000.

Thanks. Ironically I’ve asked for something like this from every dealer, and their website contact before on multiple occasions. Being a total stranger you’ve been more helpful than any supplier or associated entity of Acrorip that I have reached out to.

may I ask the size of that image that was printed in this example?

Good to know that was useful for you. This recording was A3 size, but in my p800 i usually send to print 43x50 in more or less the same time, honestly Acro10 is very fast for load images and send jobs to print. Also, check the compatibility list, your p5000 is supported alredy.

Thanks. Does 10.5 process job any faster?

Acrorip 10+ is much faster, than Arcorip 9.03,  in somce cases 10x faster, from load images, to the rip process itself (i recorded a video comparision.). Also Acrorip let you choose between unidirectional or bidirectional in any printer, then could be a very good rip for test your p5000.

So I finally bit the bullet per say.

I purchased and setup the P5000. The roll media would be perfect for DTF, it self feeds so no issues there.  The vacuum platen would be perfect in preventing head strikes- All around- it is a great candidate. For me though, I am looking for twice the speed of my P800, which is 12 foot an hour. Given it has 360 nozzles, it should print faster.

First thing I noticed, the carriage speed is much slower than the p800, so it won't be twice as fast. I have tested it with EKprint, and it shows the same speed***  as the P800 under the same settings and conditions. However, EKprint does not officially support the P5000, so I am using the R4900 driver. I have reached out to them and they said they would work on it since the printer is functioning with it, just needs some tweaking.

*** this is with the P5000 running uni-directional, while the P800 runs bi-directional for my timings. IF they can get the P5000 running bi-directional, Then it would be twice as fast. Technically, running the P800 on uni-directional AND the p5000 on uni-directional- it is almost twice as fast.

Overall, the only issue right now is the P5000 is NOT printing in bi-directional mode. If it did, It would actually be printing twice as fast as the P800, or 2.5 minutes per foot. I have not tested cadlink with it yet, or Acro 10+.

Another thing I noticed, the P5000 cartridges DO NOT have a filter in them. So, More than likely will need spare dampers in the event you get some crud in your ink when refilling and in general since the cartridge filter is the first line of defense usually.

IF ekprint CAN make the P5000 work in bi-directional mode, With the uni-directional speeds I have taken, It will print roughly 12" X 21 feet an hour at 1440X1440 resolution. That's fast for a $1600 printer.

It's huge by the way- Freight truck delivery huge. So I wouldn't count on grabbing a refurbished unit, they send technicians out instead of freighting the printer back and forth.

This is great info. This P5000 still in production and in stock ? I think that bidirectional printing will be possible for sure, the question is wich rip will do it first. Good luck with your new printer dude.

this post is old, I have since found the specs for it. 180 nozzles X6.

Yea, the xp600 is a good head. It’s different than the 15000 head. I don’t know specifically about the eco tank printer. The xp600 has two channels 360 nozzles, 4 channels 180 nozzles.

the 15000 does well, with the exception of the poor aftermarket cartridges. So if it’s similar but with an actual ink port- should be a good printhead. My 15000 printed the same speed as the p400.

I wouldn’t agree it is in any way similiar to the p600, unless you are referencing to the print speed. Then it would be the same as the xp-15000/p400/p600/p800 speeds. All these printers print within 1-2 square foot an hour of each other, the speed difference coming from the head pass speed and how long they pause every 20 head passes.

overall for a $600-700 printer it works well, depending on the durability of the rest of the machine like the capping station and CR motor. I still feel this is very expensive for what it is, but there isn’t much else available in current generations.

Me personally I’d rather buy a dual head xp600 printer from China for a little bit more, I just don’t think the eco tanks are designed with any type of durability in mind.

Yes, im only talking about print speed, but i agree about the quality and durabilty are not comparable. Right now im using also a L1800 Ecotank with very good results, but this machine is too slow.

Im not sure about get a chinese dual head machine, for me at this point is more easy and cheap buy this old printers (p400-p800-3880) or ecotank options (L1800, 8550).

  14. Thanks both for help with the possible failures. I have 3 sets of cartidges, so i can check that easy. Also i have other brand ink, and if that the problem is too easy fix it.

The prinhead is almost new, no more than 500 prints, of course i know that even with few prints could be defective. I already tested many films, but in my L1800 this films are workin flawless. Anyway, i go to take some days for change everything, also i can change the printhead to a 3880 and test if is doing the same in other printer, in that way i can discard a mechanical issue.

I appreciate a lot your help guys.

  15. Hi guys, do you have any clue about this issue ?? All my prints have a strange patter every 2.5cm and this patter is 1cm of height. All my nozzle test are perfect, no problems of clogs. I using just 2 wihte channels and saving the other 2 for later. I already cleaned the encoder, encoder reader, printhead surface, manifold, replaced dampers, and double check every connection. The printer worked flawless for about 1 year, but now start to do this (please check the attached pictures):

    So it’s probably 90 nozzles X 6, like the l1800 and 1430.

you could easily modify that ink system and run that printer with an external tank, or an automatic mixer, or simply using a syringe and recycling the ink manually which would only take a few minutes every day. The cmyk never settles, at least it hasn’t in months on my end. So doing the white only would save time. I know the eco tanks are built much cheaper, so my concern now would be the quality of the wiper/ capping station.

What were the issues you had with the 15000? I designed some resin cartridge adapters and laser cut some silicone for it. I haven’t tested it yet, but it makes the 15000 have the “nipple” for regular dampers with no chance of leaking. In my eyes I’m still stuck on it being a great candidate, at least for a throw away printer. If it was $350 every 6-12 months, it would be one of the easiest and cheapest running machines, especially if you just slap in a damper and it’s golden.

This printhead have 180 nozzles, hangry muscle is printing at 1440x1440. After watch a video from Hangry Muscle, i can affirm that the printhead is an xp600 with a different manifold, very similar to the xp1500 manifold. This printer is more or less like a p600, and is available, one of the best option until p700 and p900 get chipless firmware. Also the printhead replacement is cheap, not sure about the compatible model, but look like this one:
