The chiplesssolutions.com's firmware activation wasn't very smooth. In my case it was the third key from them that finally activated it. Took about a week overall. Just to let you know that the activation may be a hassle.

I have never done what You did before, so I have no idea the extent of the damage. I do know shorting the 3V rail destroys almost all the 3V sensors,
hopefully the printhead is okay, I don’t know how Much stuff is there, but here the p400 is about $1,000. You can buy the printhead from Epson for about $500. I also run the R2400, and the R2000 is basically the same if you can find those models cheaper as well.
Yes thanks for the information. I've been looking for those models also but theyre so old that no one has them anymore. There is one 3880 that I could buy but I think only the models with cartridges on top of the printhead would be suitable for me as I cannot commit to printing every day.
I'll let you know if the printhead swap from the damaged device succeeds.

Thanks for the tip. Ordered one.

Ok. I have all the stuff except the inks. They're stuck somewhere in the customs.
First mistake made now and it was a huge one. Cost me a few hundred $ which isnt the end of the world but the real downside is that it is so difficult to find this model nowadays. Hopefully the printhead didn't die.
I turned on the printer (P400) and didn't realize this was a US version and meant for lower voltage input.
I still have the XP-15000 sitting which was my backup. Guess I'll have to practice with that then.

I managed to find a P400 which I ordered immediately. Does this model also require removing the pizza wheels and if so, can it be done just with pliers?
How about the waste ink? Do you recommend modification or a spare waste ink tank + adjustment program?

RIght. Thanks for confirming this. Need to grab some FFP3 masks then as well.

DTF Powder is thermoplastic polyurethane and what I read it is toxic when exposed to fire. To my reasoning it could be toxic when heated. Anyone using mask or some other precautions when curing? I just bumped into a company which sells their oven with a possibility to attach a chimney because of this issue.

I see. What about the width? Can I max out say 5mm to edge?
-
Hey,
I remember reading somewhere that it is not probably wise to use full width (of the A3) but leave about 1 inch margins around the design? Is this true and if it is, what is the issue?
Still waiting some of my equipment to test this myself.

Can the original Roll Media Adapter be used with PET rolls or does one need a custom solution for that?

Thanks for the quick reply. Problem is that cannot get hands on any P Series devices here. Out of stock in every european store that I've found. Probably going in with the XP-15000 and continue searching for better one (P400 mainly) at the same time. If the machine breaks it won't be the end of the world. At least should give me experience with curing & other phases of the whole process and would have most of the stuff ready if I find a better machine.

Thank you so much for all the information in this topic.. especially johnson4 & JTS for very detailed explanations. I am a newbie in this business but willing to learn and consider myself a tech savvy person in general. I do have this machine but not yet converted. Started to be a bit skeptical since johnson4 stated not to recommend it to beginners.
My use case would not be to print every day but instead mostly during weekends and the printer would probably sit unused during the weekdays. Also I'm not aiming for the cheapest price per print and the also the printing speed isn't that important either. I could easily "afford" using sheets and not roll feeding. What I would appreciate the most is a machine that would be usable for at least 1 year or so and suitable for infrequent usage. Doing daily shake for the carts/inks would not be a problem though.
So I have a couple of questions.. First of all.. should I leave this machine (XP-15000) for regular printing usage and get another device for DTF just to avoid the problems related to ink spilling? In my country only the L1800 is available as new and the market for used machines seems to be really quiet. Haven't seen a single P-series device for sale in months. I might be able to get an old used R3880 but with that model cannot find that much information.
For infrequent use would the following procedures be enough (this machine or any other)?
Assuming I would have 2 sets of cartridges (one for inks, one for cleaning solution):
After using the printer always:
1. Close the refill plug hole and the vent hole in ink cartridges in place and after that removing them carefully
2. Swap the cleaning carts in with vents closed (then opening the air vent but not the refill plug)
3. Do couple of head cleans.
How about the capping station and the wiper? Do I need to clean these as well after every usage and what are the best tools/method for that?
Do I need to clean parts under the cartridges before putting the cleaning solution cartridges in?
Before using the printer after a few days pause always:
1. Toss the remaining whites away (to avoid clogging) as JTS had done
2. Refill ink cartridges (+ whites) and then close the refill plug and the vent hole
3. Shake the carts a bit
4. Swap the ink cartridges in and opening the air vent but not the plug and then couple of head cleans
5. Print
Something wrong with the procedures or any other maintenance tips that I should be aware of ?

Where to buy EKPrint? Got xp15000 for 99€ and just made the decision to learn DTF printing. What I've read it is not the easiest machine to start with but wasnt too expensive either. Also looking for a company offering inks, sheets etc. in Europe.

For intermittent use.. would a cooker hood be sufficient (in kitchen above the stove) above the press? Would you recommend some kind of mask when pressing?
